Cannondale Moterra SL LAB71 in Burnt Pewter

Season:2025

Brand:Cannondale

Code:CANC65064UBurntPewter

The lightest full-power mountain bike ever, the Moterra SL is the first 150mm trail bike to pack 85Nm of torque, 600W+ of peak output, and 601Wh of power into a machine weighing as little as 19.5kg (43lbs). Full-power fun meets lightweight agility; it's in a class of its own.

An eMTB to rule them all. Built for ultimate command of any trail, with top-of-the-line Fox Factory 36 fork and shock, the remarkable DT Swiss XMC 1501 carbon wheels, a Reverb AXS wireless dropper, the slick shifting of SRAM’s XX wireless electronic group, and the lightweight OneUp handlebar and stem. The LAB71 Moterra SL is simply the ultimate electric trail bike.

Fast, fluid, ridiculously fun trail riding on everything from the steep and techy to the fast and flowy.

Electric mountain bikes with this much power on tap have never been this light. The lightweight carbon fiber frame features Cannondale's weight-saving FlexPivot technology, and houses a custom battery that packs more watts per kilo than any other on the market. That unmatched power-to-weight ratio makes for one hell of a fun ride.

Power comes from a custom-tuned version of Shimano’s EP801 drive unit – the lightest motor capable of the big power Cannondale was looking for. With 85Nm of torque and 600+ watts of max output, it brings big-time boost to the lightweight party.

Cannondale developed custom ride modes for Moterra SL, specially tuned for the kind of high-speed sessions this rig encourages. Four different levels of boost, easily adjustable on the fly, help you choose between maximum range, monstrous power, or your ideal blend of both. Whether mild or wild, your ride will be whatever you want it to be, no more and no less.

At a glance, it looks kinda crazy – an adjustable head angle slack enough for a DH bike, the long reach and steep seat angle of a modern trail bike, suspension layout and geometry fully customized by size – but when it all comes together, it absolutely rips.

More than just weight-savers, Cannondale's burly FlexPivot stays are also at the heart of the suspension design. By acting as a Horst pivot, it creates a true four-bar system, allowing Cannondale's engineers to dial in the perfect suspension response for every input. The result? Incredible traction, confident braking, and a playful feel that just begs to be pushed harder.

Like a helmet for your motor, an integrated bashguard protects it from harsh impacts on the trail. You may not need it much, but when you do, you’re happy it’s there.

With Cannondale's Proportional Response design, everything from the suspension layout to the geometry — even the length of the chain stays — is completely customized for each bike’s size. It’s performance, built just for you.

Features:

  • LAB71, full carbon, 150mm travel FlexPivot frame with proportional response suspension kinematics and geometry
  • Top-of-the-line Fox Factory suspension: 160mm Factory Float 36 fork & Factory Float X rear shock
  • Ultralight and tough DT Swiss XMC 1501 carbon, tubeless-ready, all-mountain wheelset
  • SRAM's top e-MTB group: XX AXS wireless 12-speed shifting & Code Ultimate Stealth 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, plus e*thirteen Race carbon cranks
  • RockShox's wireless remote Reverb AXS dropper post, and a OneUp stem and carbon ebar
  • Cannondale-tuned Shimano EP801 motor & custom, high-energy-density 601Wh internal battery
  • Shimano EP801 Drive Unit: Lightweight, reliable, and powerful. 85Nm of torque and 600+ watts of max power, delivered via custom-engineered ride modes for full-power fun.
  • Custom-tuned Ride Modes: Specially designed assist modes for the perfect ride: ECO - max range for all-day exploits. TRAIL 1 – mid-power, great for riding with friends on lightweight e-bikes. TRAIL 2 - ramps up the assist for ripping with full-power e-bikes. And BOOST – full power, all the time. Have it your way.
  • Custom 601Wh Battery: Using special cells that store more power per kilo than ever before, Cannondale created an incredibly compact battery that packs a full 601 watt-hours into just 3.1 kg (including wiring harness!). All of the power, less of the weight.
  • FlexPivot: These carbon flex points are something Cannondale pioneered years ago, and they’re like a cheat code in frame engineering. They reduce weight, eliminate maintenance, and they allow Cannondale to use a sophisticated four-bar suspension design, increasing your traction and control on the trail.
  • Flip It Your Way: The Flip Chip means you can choose between keeping Moterra Neo SL as a “mullet” bike, with the 29-inch-front/27.5-inch-rear wheel setup for agility and playfulness, or switching to 29-inchers at both ends, for maximum traction and rolling efficiency.
  • Get Your Head Set: Adjustable headset cups give you a 1.2-degree range of angle adjustment at the front. Dial it back if you want more stability at speed, set it steeper if you want more agility on technical terrain.

Sizing Information

To get a better match it's best to start by measuring yourself the right way.

Finding the right size bike for your body size is essential if you want to ensure the optimum experience, comfort and enjoyment while you ride. Because the sizing varies between the type of bike, the brand and even the model, getting the perfect fit can seem daunting at first. Take off your shoes and stand with your back against a wall. Make sure your legs are together and your shoulders are back. Place a pencil on top of your head and mark the wall (the best and easiest way to do this properly is with a friend to help you). Measure from the floor to the pencil mark you have just made with a tape measure.

Your reach on the bike.

For most people to get the right frame size, measuring your height will suffice. However, you may find that your height is on the borderline of the range we suggest for a particular frame. If this occurs you need to measure the range of your reach or “Ape Index”. This will ensure you get a comfortable distance between the handlebars and your saddle. Stand up straight with your back against a wall. Hold your arms out horizontally on either side of you. Measure the distance from the fingertip of one hand to the fingertip of the other. This measurement is your arm span. Subtract your height from this figure to get your Ape Index.

If the result is positive (your arm span is greater than your height) you should choose a larger-size of bike.
If the result is negative (your arm span is less than your height) then you need a smaller-sized bike.

Size ranges are simply suggestions, for further advice please contact us.
