FAQs
Do you offer more specific repairs?
Yes! When booking simply select ‘Quotation‘ and add as much information as you can in the notes section. When you drop off your bike, our staff members will give you a quote after inspecting your bike.
Why do you charge an extra for Electric Bikes?
When we complete work on an Electric Bike we, on top of the normal service, also update any software on the bike, complete a battery condition test, check the condition of the motor and complete a physical battery, wiring and terminal inspection.
Do you work on any Bikes?
We are brand agnostic, that’s to say we accept any bike you need work on. However there are certain bikes we will refuse work on. Mainly bikes not regulated by the EAPC. If your bike comes with motor brands like Shimano, Bosch, Yamaha or Specialized you can assume it most likely is okay and regulated by the EAPC. With these motor brands, we have the correct training, tools and diagnostics equipment to resolve any problems and a supplier if parts need replacing. Any E-Bikes that are not regulated i.e. meet the EAPC specifications, we are unfortunately unable to work on. If your bike has been modified or ‘chipped’ we will be unable to assist with any electrical work.
We reserve the right to refuse service at any time. The decision resides with our Service Managers in our stores.
What is classed as an unregulated E-Bike?
For an E-Bike to be road legal in the UK it must have a maximum power output of 250 watts, should only be propelled by the use of the pedals and not give any assistance to the bike when it’s traveling more than 15.5mph. Bikes that use a twist or thumb throttle on the handlebars are only legally allowed to give an output of 4mph, often referred to Walk Assist mode.
