The Opportunity & Role:
Based in our high-end Performance Road Store, Cycle Evolution, this role will be working in a small team, dedicated to providing exceptional service to our customers. Our customers travel from all over the country to our showroom where we assemble, sell, maintain and repair a large number of customer builds, team issue bikes and road related bikes and accessories. This role is primarily a technical role, with a requirement to support on the shopfloor at busy times and covering for staff absence.

If you’re into bikes and you live nearby, you’ll know about us already. This is a great opportunity to work with other enthusiastic people, in a positive and dynamic working environment where we all love what we do – and do what we love.

You will be required to work three days (which will include Saturday).

Whilst you don’t need to know all about our products (we’ll train you in all of that), you must have a keen interest in cycling and particularly the high end bikes that we stock. If you have the technical knowledge and ability to build maintain, repair and rebuild bikes, and the enthusiasm to fill our customers with confidence that you know what you’re talking about, then come and join us!

Of course we’ll train you in what you need to know in order to provide an excellent service, but you’ll need a good understanding before you start. This is an exceptionally busy time for us and you’ll need to be able to contribute to the store’s success from your very first day.

The job is Monday to Friday, 9 to 6pm. There is an immediate start available for the right candidates so the sooner you contact us, the better! We’ll need you to fill in an application form and possibly be interviewed by Zoom if you’re suitable, and we might also ask you to come and do a trial shift as part of the selection.

Thomas’ Cycle Revolution are expanding and we are enhancing our team with new roles, working as part of a stable team of supportive, knowledgeable people who will help you to learn the job so that you can quickly become a key part of the business. This key role will provide support to the maintenance and functioning of the company website, supporting our business growth through online transactions.

Product Support (online)

You will be supporting the team with maintaining our website, ensuring that available products are correctly listed so that our customers can identify available products easily and make their choices with confidence. This role will monitor the website and on a daily basis will be adding new products, removing unavailable items and keeping colleagues across our 5 stores up-to-date with changes to brands and products. You will also be directly supporting the web team where needed – there’s lots to do and you won’t be bored!

An excellent organiser, with great attention to detail and great IT skills including website tools, you will ideally have a good knowledge of our products; you probably won’t have this already, but if you’re interested in bikes and are enthusiastic and willing to learn quickly, then we’ll give you all the support you need to be able to make this job a success. Experience of the cycling industry would also be an advantage, but more important is a great work ethic and a commitment to keeping the website fully operational.

Specific Duties:

Ensuring that the sales area of the website is up-to-date will include:

  • Adding new products
  • Removing out of stock items and obsolete lines
  • Importing of products onto the database accurately
  • Ensuring that the relevant brands staff are informed about new products or web products and take action accordingly
  • Promote featured products as appropriate e.g. star value, staff profile pictures, deal of the week etc
  • Google shopping campaign assistance – assisting with what is selling and aiding coordination
  • Website promotion – understanding visitor actions and engagement. Lin king with social platforms to improve customer experience.

Support with the development of the website to ensure our competitive advantage, including:

  • Maintain knowledge of competitor pricing and current offers through regular basic Google analytics reporting
  • Suggest and carry out improvements to the website
  • Take action as appropriate after liaison with colleagues and Director

Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent language, written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Quick learner with the ability to retain information
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of software applications
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office and understanding of computer systems e.g. Citrus Lime, Google analytics and advertising (not essential)
  • Knowledge of website tools
  • Good time keeping and a solid work ethic
  • Product knowledge (desirable)
  • Experience of the cycling industry (desirable)

This key role exists to provide customer service support to the company, ensuring customers purchasing goods online receive an exceptional experience from us. You will be the point of contact for all orders that are taken via the company website, so you’ll be responding to emails, telephone queries and even live chat once you feel confident. Our customers deserve the very best in advice and support from us and you will be there for them and us so that we don’t let them down. There will be some computer work so that you can help customers with online orders, take payment and deal with the paperwork needed to secure the sale and arrange for bikes to be collected by the customer or courier company.

Whilst you don’t need to know all about our products (we’ll train you in all of that), you will need the confidence to put our customers at ease (even when you don’t know the answers straight away). This really is a team role and you’ll be supported – and challenged – by others who have done the job already, so you won’t be dropped in at the deep end. However, someone who learns quickly and has the interest and ability to make this role their own will quickly become an asset for the team. Experience of the cycling industry would be an advantage.

Main duties:

  • Assist customers with website enquiries, responding to emails and telephone queries and live chat in a friendly and professional manner
  • Advise on best products based on customer requirements, including selling additional items/add-ons as appropriate.
  • Administration of the supplier’s websites (e.g.B2B system) to help customers during the sale
  • Arranging bike collection
  • Taking payments using the EPOS system to collect payments
  • Assist with finance applications and cycle to work scheme and associated paperwork

After sales:

  • Respond appropriately and efficiently to queries on the status of orders and/or deliveries
  • Ensure goods are despatched accurately in accordance with agreed timescales
  • Liaise with courier supplier and make appropriate arrangements for despatch to the customer promptly
  • Take action as appropriate after liaison with colleagues and Director

You will need to be able to demonstrate, either in your application or at interview (which might take place over Zoom) that you are:

  • Confident and articulate
  • Able to speak over the telephone with accuracy and in a friendly manner
  • Able to pay great attention to detail
  • A quick learner with the ability to retain information
  • Able to use computer systems and applications with ease
