Bigger brake set ups
If you’re riding around on a bike with disks, there is many an option to improve their performance. If you’re running cable discs, Shimano offer a cheap way of simply replacing your levers and callipers to hydraulic, using the discs you already have. This will give you up to 50% more power.
What about bigger rotors? On any disc system the simple inclusion of an inexpensive calliper mount and some larger (180/203mm) Ashima AiRotor’s that cut into the pads better will add we 15% extra power. Right tyres for the job
Let us say now – from the established brands there is no such thing as a bad tyre. We all have different bikes, riding styles and weights so it comes down to finding something that suits all three. In an ideal world, we would change our tyres for the time of year and conditions that we are riding. We believe a more aggressive tyre for the front is essential, this does the steering and you need to put more weight on it to avoid that front wheel washing out. Get those tyre pressures right too. This has to vary, on the tyre, conditions and weight of rider, but it’s so important to get them right. Come speak to us and we’ll advise you – the right tyres will enlighten your ride.

Better shifting and gearing in all conditions
We see this all the time – you can have the best shifters and mechs in the world, but if your cables are gunked up them they’re never going to work right. Invest in some good cables (and look after them) and stop worrying about ghost shifts, slipping and stiff shifter action - period. Ashima and Gore make some amazing sealed cable kits, and in colours if you wanna shout about them, that are one of the cheapest upgrades here.

SPD pedals
Ever wanted to put 100% pressure through your pedals without the fear of your shoe slipping off? Get clipped in – a pair of SPD pedals and shoes will allow more power, efficiency and control. You can adjust the spring tension on the pedals so although we can’t guarantee you won’t fall over, you can clip out easily if you feel yourself going. More advanced riders will find that SPD’s allow you to steer with the rear wheel as well as the front and twist the bike in mid air.

Supsension set up
How many people have a well designed full suspension bike but have no idea what all the adjustments are, or even what the right settings are? If this is you – you’re not alone. It’s imperative, to get the best of your bike, to make sure your shocks are perfectly set up for your bike design, you style and weight. We now offer a service that will do all this for you, and educate you to keep it that way. We also service all brands of shocks should there be a problem.

Clipless pedals
Road biking is about efficiency. Clipping in using a road specific pedal and shoe combination drastically improves this, no wasted energy in shoe flex or knee wobble. For hill climbing, you can power away on the pedals without worrying about slipping forward and use the pedals to pull as well as push improving pedal stroke dynamics and muscle fatigue. A must have for the serious road cyclist.

Puncture proof tyres
We’ve all experienced it – as cyclist road debris can cut our thin road tyres to shreds, so why not invest in some quality tyres and spend more time riding, rather than beside the road fixing tubes in the cold. Specialized, Bontrager and Panaracer all make a range of tyres that have punchure proof casings, without killing the suppleness of the tyre. They weigh a little more, but so doe’s 3 spare tubes in your jersey!
