Nine Members of Essex County Fire & Rescue cycled over the highest roads in the Alps passing through Switzerland, Italy and France and finishing in the principality of Monaco raising £2100 for various charities.

The 450 mile route took six days to complete taking in some of the most arduous but scenic roads in Europe and was only possible by the help of Chelmsford Van hire who stepped in when a major car company withdrew at the last minute.
The team consisted of support crew Pat Davie & Dave Purkiss and cycling Dave Tayler, Glenn Wellhams, Myles Rapley, Paul Chipperfield, Mark Elliott, Lloyd Morgan and Dave Hellon.
The Burned Children’s Club, Little Havens Children’s Hospice and the Fire-Fighters Charity all benefitted from a £700 Christmas windfall each.
The team and charities would like to thank the following companies for all the help they gave.
